If you come and visit Lithuania, you wouldn't say, you wouldn't see..
Yesterday I watched Lithuanian news, I love high tech possibilities!! Yeah, but the news was saddening!
It was announced that 1/5 of Lithuanian population is below poverty line...
That's a big proportion!!! They say only Ireland and Portugal are ahead of us with these numbers!
No surprise why Lithuanians have flown away from their country and are called economic emigrants.
One famous satirist J. Erlickas has written in his book "The history of Lithuania"
that "Lithuanians' stomachs are satisfied with air" (lietuviai sotūs oru)
because a foreigner can not understand how a
person can survive with this amount of
salary.
That is why Lithuanians are saving people
and they make a lot of food themselves.
The difference between the salaries of an uneducated employee
and a manager is grand!
The higher education is not valued because
more than 55 % of Lithuanians
have graduated from university!!!!!!
So in my country I would receive a net salary of 430 eur
and a manager (the lowest rank in the bank) would receive 2857 eur.
In conclusion, there are people who live very well
and the biggest social class is middle class,
but the problem of poverty remains.
Government is now attempting to improve the situation,
but it is itself very corrupted
and not very rich,
so we'll see.
We need many prayers for Lithuania!!!!
