A short story inspired by a legend of my town Vilkmerge

On the hill in the meadow surrounded by forest a day was ending.
A girl built a fire. She was warming up. Her sisters left for the town.
In her singleness she could enjoy the true moment amazed by the beauty of everything touched by God's hand.

Stars were falling and stars were standing. A girl nursed the fire. Another precious mystery: fire.

Her sisters didn't return. It was darkening. Something appeared in the bushes. Something there was alive. Alive, but not trees or bugs or bats.

This "something" surrounded the girl. The girl didn't see, but like most of the girls she could feel the danger when it is approaching. She looked around and for a moment she thought she caught red eyes staring into her.

She was surrounded by wolves who followed her every step from the ambush.

The girl ran out of the wood and the fire died.

The wolves came out of the bush.

--------

The wolves left. The girl remained... Alive and totally unharmed.
