Last weekend I went to a conference and one speaker's words touched my heart. She said that we are all pearls, the beautiful magnificent amazing treasure and explained how pearls are formed. Wow, it seems that this very image of perfection is shaped by ultimate imperfection: the sand, which gets inside a shell and irritates oyster. It actually hurts, it is a wound, from which the oyster starts defending herself by secretion that covers sand in many layers. An incredible story that has many parallels with us, humans. Aren't we all burdened and hurt by this imperfect world around us? Don't we get sand, hurting our dreams, hopes, feelings and breaking our hearts? Pearl is said to be the symbol of purity and christianity. Thus, let's allow God to shape our deep wounds into precious pearls!
