My Dutch friend once told me that Dutch people are not happy. Is it true?If yes, I wonder why? From foreigner's eyes it might seem there is a lot to envy: rich economy, good social security, superior train infrastructure... In other words, quite simple life in comparison with African or Asian regions, where people live in not hygienic circumstances, die from polluted water or starving...
Thus, my question is are Dutch people really not happy? And if you see it, why do think it is so?

Ok this is intresting, since I am Dutch I have the feeling that I have to reresent the whole country..
I notice that we as Dutch always have to complain about something, isn't the weather than it is the train that runs late. This is an old Dutch habit I guess....
Maybe the fact we allready have everything yet but still arn't satisfied makes some (ofcourse not everybody) unhappy..
well, ok, as you are the only one to represent Dutch people so far :), i will reply.
yeah,i see the complaining habit in Lithuanian people as well though after we gained independence the economy is booming and we are doing much better than Belarus or we are wealthier than many countries throughout the world. Maybe it depends with what you compare.And then again what makes people happy?Maybe it's totally not about wealth???
probably not yeah, but we think it is and strive for that!!
